A Brief Early History

Extract from Notebook recently found and re-bound detailing the founding of the "Kirkham Cricket Club"

At a Meeting of the Committee of this Club held at the house of Dr Shaw on Friday the 21st day of April 1865 at

Present Mr Wm Parkinson (Chairman)

            Dr Thos Shaw

            Mr Rtt Bailey

            Mr J D Bowdler &

            Mr Wm Mullins

Resolved
 

That the Rev G R Brown, Vicar of Kirkham, be appointed Chairman of the Committee.
 

That Mr Hornby’s field in front of Ribby Hall be accepted.
 

That the Treasurer purchase 2 Balls & 1 set of Wickets complete

That play be commenced on Saturday the 22nd of April at

That Mr Hutton Bailey be Captain of the Field on Field nights i.e. one a month, practice nights Captain to be chosen from the Members present.
 

That the thanks of the Meeting be accorded to the Chairman.
